Areola Tattooing
After reconstructive surgery you may wish to add the finishing touch of a permanent 3D tattoo to give the illusion of protrusion.
At MK Beauty I use tattoo inks especially designed for areola restoration (vegan friendly). As with all treatments, sterilised, disposable cartridges & pigment pots are used for client cleanliness to avoid cross contamination.

The Treatment
If you have any sensation in the breast tissue then you can either apply some EMLA cream (available from Boots/Chemist) or I can apply some when you arrive. If applying at home then you should apply a thick layer and cover with cling film.
We will choose a colour and size for your tattoo. Then using a specialist cosmetic & medical tattooing machine, I gently apply pigment to the skin using very fine needles in the form of a fully retractable, disposable cartridge. I will use a blend of several colours individually selected for your skin tone to create depth. If you are having a single areola then I will try to blend a colour which matches your existing areola as much as possible.
A dressing of gauze and A&D ointment will be applied after your treatment to protect the newly tattooed area. You should keep this area dry as much as possible for the next 7 days whilst your skin heals. You may shower but keep the time to a minimum and try not to have the jets directly on the breast area. I would recommend not to have long, hot baths or engage in any phyical activity that involves sweating as this may cause the pigment to bleed out. You may get some light crusting or flaking at the tattoo site but try to resist picking it off as this may pull the pigment out of the skin and leave it patchy. After the flaking has disappeared then you may continue with your usual washing routine. The true healed colour will come through around 3-4 weeks later. After this time you may come back for a top -up where I can reinforce the colour or make it darker if you feel it has faded too much.
